STLCC @ Flo valley

I hate St Louis Community College, I applied for sub/unsubsidized loans in April of 2012, I have called several times during this to check on the status of my loan request and each time I called they call center stated I had no app on file. I went into the campus office on 8/2/12 to make them pull my application they did find it but for some reason it didn't process until 8/16/12 now it is 8/24/12 on the application has processed but is labeled incomplete. They said my notes state the first page is missing and I have to go back up to the school now to get this processed even thought I did complete both pages, I explain this to the rude agent Laura who answered the phone who just keep saying I'm just telling you why I see and there's nothing that could be done but fill out the requested information. Now what's really upsetting me about this matter is the first page is the form you use to put you personal information so if they don't have it how do they know it's me? And why do I have to sit there in the office for 7 hours to fix an issue I didn't make. This school is terrible they should be closed down!!!

FLO VALLEY DIDN'T REGISTER ME LIKE THEY SAID THEY DID

WELL...I AM WRITING THIS ABOUT THE CURRENT STAFF ! I had registered on May 22, 2012 for two Summer Courses. I even asked the young lady on the other side of the counter, "Is that it?" She replied, "Yes. You are registered in those two classes." Then I left. I thought to myself...WOW! That was easy and fast! When I returned on Monday June 4th for my two classes, which by the way, my first one was at 9:45am, neither of the instructors had me on their list. So, after classes, now it's 12:45pm, I went to the Admissions Building. That is when the nightmare began. I am 43 years old. Haven't been in school in DECADES. I was unsure if I should even attempt this. But, I did. That was my first and last day of school. I came to find out, that out of the NINE staff members I had encountered throughout my Admission/Registgration process...NOT ONE OF THEM BROUGHT UP THE FACT THAT I HAD TO APPEAL...YES, APPEAL...THE F#*@#*G COURSES I TOOK BACK IN 1985...YEP...1985. So, after I left there at 5:35pm, I WAS NO LONGER, ACTUALLY, I NEVER WAS ENROLLED AND REGISTERED! I REALLY ENJOYED THE TWO CLASSES. i DID'T FEEL OUT OF PLACE AT ALL. THE INSTRUCTORS WERE WONDERFUL. I WAS STOKED BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS. ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE DEADLINE FOR APPEALS WAS OVER. I COULDN'T GET THE FINANCIAL AID. I WAS MORE THAN WELCOME TO PAY FOR IT OUT OF POCKET...YEAH...RIGHT! THAT'S WHY I APPLIED FOR FINANCIAL AID IN THE FIRST PLACE...AH DUH!!!!!! WELL, I HAVE BEEN CRYING...AND CRYING...AND CRYING...JUST LIKE A BABY, AND I AM NOT AFRAID TO LET THE WORLD KNOW. THAT EXPERIENCE BROKE MY HOPE...MY DREAMS...AND MY FUTURE. I REFUSED TO ENROLL IN THE FALL SEMESTER. IF I HAVE TO SCRUB TOILETS WITH A TOOTHBRUSH AND LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX UNDER A BRIDGE WITH A BUNCH OF CRACKHEADS...THAT WOULD BE A WELCOME EXPERIENCE COMPARED TO FLORISSANT VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE. THEY GIVE SAINT LOUIS COMMUNITY COLLEGE A BAD RAP. I AM DONE WITH COLLEGE.

Not Enough Staff

Updated by user Aug 12, 2011

UPDATE: I would delete this complaint if I could. Just a frustrated student but the site will not let me so I will atleast add that this is not a complaint against the staff currently at the school.

They seem to be nice and doing their jobs well, today one reached out to try and help me actually. This is just a general complaint that they need more staff in the financial aid department and admissions so that the process moves quicker since the school is so overcrowded. And a warning to new students to get started as early as possible on admissions and financial aid.

I moved to a new state due to my job and started my enrollment back in June thinking over 2 months would be enough time but it wasn\'t. If you are brand new or transferring there is a bigger process than you may think!

The St.Louis Community College in Florissant Valley does not have enough staff. It should not take 3 to 4 hours of lobby waiting time just to see someone to fill out financial aid paperwork. There needs to be more staff because this is going to discourage students. I should know. Having to deal with this school I have actually had suicidal thoughts because I have to deal with so much stuff and I have no direction at all. I'm a transfer student and no one could tell me what or how to get things done. After spending so much time standing in the wrong lines and calling the wrong people I finally figured things out. I even waited on hold for 40 minutes one time just for them to say I called the wrong place. This school needs structure, organization, and a CARING staff that care about our future. We are trying to better our lives and this schools enrollment process just makes you want to kill yourself.

Shouldn't*

I strongly agree with this people should have to wait 5 hours (that's how long I waited for the financial aide office) then they sent me back down to the advising and stuff cuz I needed a paper signed and I had to wait an hour just for a 2 second signature. This was worse then buying a car.

You have a lot of people telling you so many different things on where to go who to talk to what to do it's crazy. Plus all the buildings look alike which makes things confusing.

I did do a FAFSA online. I am a transfer student and there is a ton of paperwork to be filled out.

I was also told it would take 2 weeks for my transcripts to be reviewed and it has been 5 weeks. I call and no one knows why they haven't been reviewed they are sitting on someone's desk and I may not get to attend my classes because of it. And yes, every time I go up there I am waiting for hours to do one piece of paperwork at a time.

Your situation may be easy peasy but mine is not. I have never seen such chaos as the admissions and financial aid office.

Guest

You had to wait because it's right before school starts and everyone else who procrastinated like you is also waiting. I have never once had to go into the financial aid office to fill out forms except when I was turning in a letter to appeal a rejection.

Your FAFSA is all done online and is very easy to fill out.

You should get therapy for your personal problems and maybe apply for a job at the school to help out with the...staffing issue. Good luck to you.
